After dark, Lake Como exudes sophistication but always remains accessible. Most of the nightlife revolves around world-class restaurants such as Il Gatto Nero and Al Veluu.

There really is something for everyone if you take the time to look.

Lake Como Bar, aperitivi, and cafes

Most bars on Lake Como are within restaurants and hotels, so you do have to look out for them. Although not mentioned below, Mezzegra, Varenna, Tremezzo, Griante, Cadenabbia to name a few all have great little bars and cafes that are great places to go for beer or glass of wine. However, if it’s a lively place or somewhere special you are looking for, try these below:

Lido Di Lenno – Lenno
Situated near the centre of Lake Como, Lido Di Lenno overlooks Villa Balbianello (of Bond fame) and the Bay of Lenno. On Friday and Saturday this restaurant and beach bar transforms into a nightclub with covered dance floor and gazebos with candlelit seating. On warm evenings you can’t resist dancing on the beach.

Grand Hotel Tremezzo – Tremezzo
The Grand Hotel Tremezzo has been subject to a muti million euro restoration. The piano bar on the raised second level is a fantastic place to have cocktails and gaze across Lake Como. Non residents are very welcome and you may like to eat in the restaurant too. We like it here a lot!

Cantina Follie Tremezzo
Tucked just behind the pretty portico in Tremezzo, this little bar has become quite the meeting place. The great thing is it’s close-by to the lake and restaurants, does not cost the earth, and has a great atmosphere.

Bar Ritrovo Menaggio
This bar is also a book store and is run by a very nice man called Andrea, who is a real local character. Its not always open in the evening but when it is its always full of locals sipping an aperitivo and enjoying jovial banter. Its right in the centre of the village and is easy to find.

Bar Gabbiano Menaggio
On the Largo Castelli, lake front, in Menaggio you can promenade to the bar along the lake, enjoy a drink by the lake or have a delicious ice cream, which some say is the best in the village.

Bar Tana Menaggio
This bar is by the ferry terminal in Menaggio and has a younger crowd who enjoy the live music and DJ. Not our scene, but if you have younger people with you they will probably have a great night out!

Lido Di Menaggio
The Lido di Menaggio not only boasts two pools and a beach, but it also has it’s own brewery. At night it has become quite a trendy place to go and has a bar that’s for the younger scene and a chic bar for the chic scene. It is in a great position by the lake and is open very late.

Harry’s Bar – Cernobbio
This is a great bar/restaurant situated in the affluent town of Cernobbio. It sits by the quay, just off the lake. It’s lovely to sit outside people watching in the summer, as Harry’s Bar is frequented by the great and the good of Como. Cernobbio itself is a lovely small town with some beautiful shops which are open until late. This a favourite of diners at Il Gatto Nero, who will stop here before and after dinner for a sophisticated evening by the lake.

Lake Como Casinos

If a night at the casino is your thing there is no shortage of choice around Lake Como. Whilst it may not be Las Vegas, you can enjoy a very European gambling experience in and around the Swiss border. Don’t forget your passport if you go to the casino, you will need it for ID and for going across the border.
